Physical Science Technician

About the Position: The work involves planning and carrying out the testing program, coordinating the work with other laboratory sections, and interpreting policy in terms of established objectives and forensic requirements. Responsible for determining qualitative level of a given drug in an individual sample, differentiating a non-negative sample from a negative sample, and obtaining quantitative results for validity tests.

• Perform a wide range of standard drug tests within compliance and regulations.
• Maintain, calibrate, and use equipment required for standard tests.
• Determine the qualitative level of a given drug in an individual sample.
• Prepare laboratory reports and written procedures on analytical techniques and equipment calibration and maintenance requirements.
• Receive work assignments, determine tests to be conducted, and set up schedules to expedite assignments.
• Write procedures on analytical techniques used in testing.
