PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (FORENSIC CHEMISTRY)

Serves as a Physical Scientist in the Confirmation Section of the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory (FTDTL), Fort Meade, MD. Performs extraction, derivatization, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC MS), and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analyses to confirm the presence of drugs of abuse in urine specimens in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Drug Demand Deterrence Program and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Federal Workplace Drug Testing Program. Performs duties in accordance with FTDTL Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), DoD policy, and National Laboratory Certification Program (NLCP) Regulations. Must follow technical and forensic regulations for FTDTL to maintain proficiency certification by NLCP and the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES).
