Forensic Scientist 3 - Chemistry (12-4260) | Job Details tab | Career PagesThe Chemistry discipline of the Alaska Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory provides analysis of seized drug and blood alcohol evidence. Additionally, the discipline manages the Statewide Breath Alcohol Program, which includes the calibration and maintenance of evidential breath testing instruments statewide.
A Forensic Scientist 3 in the Chemistry discipline performs scientific analysis in one or more of the areas listed above and presents those findings to the criminal justice system in both written reports and expert testimony. Additional duties include participation in method validation, review of OSAC standards, instrument maintenance, serving as a training mentor for laboratory personnel, and providing training to external stakeholders.
